The approval of the GI4Sado project – Development of an Integrated Management model as a support tool for the Governance of the Sado Estuary, will promote a partnership between Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal and CoastNet, through the data integration in the geoportal.

GI4Sado, coordinated by Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal (IPS), intends to fill the gaps of information on the environmental status and economic activities to help and assist regional governance in decision making.

The data that will integrate the CoastNet’s geoportal are: (1) historical physicochemical and biological data of concluded research projects, (2) present data about water and sediments quality (such pH, conductivity, salinity, temperature, chlorophyll, nutrients), and (3) present data about the diversity of biological communities (e.g., native and non-indigenous species of invertebrates).
