CoastNet present to the Alentejo River Basin Council
Public Administration, municipalities and entities representing the main water users from Alentejo were presented to the CoastNet Research Infrastructure
At the invitation of the Alentejo River Basin Administration, the CoastNet – Coastal Monitoring Network research infrastructure (RI) was presented to the Alentejo River Basin Council (Conselho de Região Hidrográfica do Alentejo – CRH). The CRH is a consultative and supportive body of the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), in the area of water resources, for the RH6 (Sado and Mira) and RH7 (Guadiana) river basins, where besides the ministries, other Public Administration bodies, the municipalities directly concerned and entities representing the main water users, are represented, as well as technical, scientific and non-governmental organizations representing water uses. The CoastNet team stressed the need to continue the data collection and processing in order to make them available and useful to the RI users. The need to extend the network spatially, and make the RI products available so that they can be used to support water resources and aquatic ecosystems management, was also highlighted.
